German maker Audi has launched the Audi A4 Avant and it has its sights on rivals BMW 3-Series Touring and Mercedes C-Class Estate with this new load lugger.
The Audi A4 Avant is set to slug it out with the cars from Mercedes and BMW in the premium sector. Audi A4 Has Classy looks For An Estate CarOn the styling front, the Audi A4 Avant is one of the sharpest premium estate cars on the market. It has striking look to it and the bold lines give the vehicle a marked presence on the road. Walk round to the front of the car and the LED headlights enhance the grille of the A4 Avant. Interior Of The Audi A4 AvantThe A4 Avant has a classy cabin. The materials used are of high quality and the switchgear is in within reach of the driver, making controlling the car's stereo and aircon child's play. The dash is made of a high quality plastic and feels smooth to the touch. For passengers sitting in the rear, the car has plenty of room for adults, two grown-ups will easily fit in the rear while a third could be squeezed in on shorter journeys. The German maker claims that the A4 Avant has the most generous passenger space in the sector when comparing it to the likes of the BMW 3-Series Touring and Mercedes C-Class Estate. A4 Avant Has Great Load Lugging FeaturesNot only does it look good, it has lots of practicality. With the seats in place, the boot can hold 490 litres and when folded this expands to a maximum of 1,430 litres. The boot has not got the biggest load room in the sector as the Mercedes C Class estate can boast a capacity of 1,500 litres load room. However, loading is a breeze thanks to Audi fitting bag hooks and the boot can be kept nice and clean thanks to the floor having a reversible liner with a wipe-clean surface. Driving The Audi A4 AvantOn the road the A4 Avant was powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, which had 141bhp. The power plant was smooth but punchy. This made the car feel quick and the figures back this up, as the A4 Avant can get from zero to 62mph in 9.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 130mph. The derv engine is mated to a smooth shifting six-speed gearbox. Audi claims that this car will have a combined economy of 49.6mpg and it emits 143g/km of CO2.This Audi A4 Avant 2.0-litre TDI S Line is priced from £25,600. The car on test had a host of options added, these included, meteor grey, pearl effect £550, mobile telephone preparation – low £375, sat-nav system plus £1,975, Audi Music Interface £200 and servotronic power steering £180 taking the price of this test car to £29,630.
